13:00 ~ 14:00 | The Science of Learning: Evidence-based Learning Strategies By André Hedlund Conferencia Plenaria

André Hedlund is an educational psychologist, teacher educator, and international consultant specializing in the Science of Learning, bilingual education, and evidence-informed teaching practice. He holds an MSc in Psychology of Education from the University of Bristol (Chevening Scholar) and has over 20 years of experience in teacher education, academic leadership, and curriculum design. He is the founder of Learning Cosmos, a professional development hub that integrates insights from neuroscience, psychology, and education to support teachers worldwide through courses, ebooks, podcasts, and workshops.
The Science of Learning studies how different branches of psychology, cognitive neuroscience, pedagogy, and andragogy can contribute to teaching and learning. What does the research say about what happens in the brain when we learn effectively? This talk will discuss the 4 evidence-based strategies students of all ages can adopt to improve their learning outcomes.
14:00 ~ 14:30 | Ceremonia de Clausura
EVENTO PROFESORES
15:00 ~ 15:20 | Registro
15:20 ~ 15:30 | Bienvenida
15:30 ~ 16:10 | AI: To Use It or Not to Use It? Rethinking AI in the ELT Classroom By Joseph Hills Conferencia
Joseph Jesus Hills has a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from Syracuse University, where he specialized in instructional design, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and critical information literacy. Joseph has lived and worked in South Korea since 2011, where he has taught students of all ages, written and edited educational content, and created other learning tools. Joseph joined e-future in 2022 to assist teachers worldwide in their pursuit of effective and equitable English education.
Artificial Intelligence is rapidly entering the ELT classroom, yet many teachers remain unsure how to use it safely, meaningfully, effectively, and in age-appropriate ways. While a wide range of AI-based tools already support adult English learners through grammar correction, writing feedback, and conversational practice, these approaches are not always suitable for primary and secondary learners, whose linguistic, cognitive, and developmental needs are very different.
This session explores practical and realistic ways AI can be used to support fluency development for primary and secondary students without requiring them to interact with AI directly. Participants will examine simple AI tools for speaking and reading practice and consider both the possibilities and limitations of using AI with younger students.
16:10 ~ 16:50 | Ethical and responsible AI integration in the classroom By Gloria Bohorquez Conferencia
Gloria Bohórquez is a consultant, international lecturer and educator with a B.A. in Languages (UPB) and a Master’s in Didactics (Universidad del Rosario). A former Teacher of the Year (Suffolk, Virginia, 2004) and SIOP-certified specialist, she has extensive experience as a school coordinator and university professor in Bogotá.
Currently, as an Educational Consultant, Gloria mentors schools in their transition to bilingualism. In the past years, her focus is in the practical integration of AI in the classroom, focusing on new trends in education. Her work helps teachers use technology to boost critical thinking and "analog wellness" without losing the human touch in education.
For MS-HS English teachers, Generative AI is a paradox: a powerful personalized tutor or a shortcut that bypasses the linguistic struggle necessary for fluency. This session moves beyond the binary "use or ban" debate to explore a "Human-in-the-Loop" framework. Participants will leave with ethical, actionable strategies to protect student agency and ensure that in the age of algorithms, language learning remains a deeply human practice of reflection and connection.
16:50 ~ 17:30 | Coffee Break
17:30 ~ 18:10 | Teach Listening as a Skill (not a test) By Alastair Graham-Marr Conferencia
Alastair Graham-Marr has been working in education in Japan for 36 years. He is a recently retired professor at the Tokyo University of Science. His research interests include the effect of language output on overall language accuracy, the effect of explicit instruction on listening proficiency, and self-determination theory and how skills development can affect intrinsic motivation. He has given workshops in many countries around the world.
Undeveloped listening skills seriously hamper one’s ability to learn a foreign language. Research tells us that explicitly teaching the skills of listening helps students to improve their comprehension abilities, and yet listening is often taught as a series of mini-tests, or even worse, left alone and not directly taught. Research has long shown that the best way to teach listening is to break it up into micro-skills and teach those. This presentation will focus on ways to teach listening that help students develop the ability and confidence to listen and comprehend natural English outside the classroom.
18:10 ~ 19:00 | Teaching English in the era of AI: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly By André Hedlund Conferencia Plenaria
Artificial Intelligence is changing the landscape of education, and English teaching is right in the middle of it. But what does this mean for how students learn and how teachers teach? In this session, we’ll explore what neuroscience and psychology can tell us about the effects of AI on attention, motivation, memory, and critical thinking. We’ll discuss the benefits, the risks, and the unknowns of integrating AI into English classrooms, and how to do so without losing sight of what makes human learning truly powerful.
19:00 ~ 19:15 | Closing
Strategies to Learn Vocabulary
Ivonne Rosalia Moncada Dominguez
Having a wide range of vocabulary improves the possibility of being able to communicate better as well as to understand readings and listening, that is why it is so important that students learn strategies to acquire new words.
Many students have completed intermediate or even advanced levels of English, but the lack of vocabulary is remarkable. In order to overcome this problem, this workshop has been designed to provide the learners some strategies to learn vocabulary.
Surviving in Germany

Karla Esthela Castillo Ruiz
Germany is a hub of cultural history, urban development, and diverse landscapes, attracting millions of visitors. Each year, about 36 Million people visit Germany.
The main attractions that people find interesting in Germany are the Christmas Markets, its various Castles and the Architecture. In 2024 a record number of people turned to Germany for their vacation.
During this session, it is intended to provide the students with practical phrases and vocabulary, that can be used in daily tourist life. Additionally, to encourage them to learn German a foreign language.
Why should engineers learn French?

David Guillen Rosales
While English is the dominant foreign language, speaking other global languages give professionals access to a wider array of job opportunities.
Given that everyone needs to learn English, a third language is often necessary to present oneself as more prepared and competent. German is generally preferred by most engineers as their third language choice, and it is this very reason why other languages offer somewhat of an advantage.
French is a romance language descended from Latin, the same as Spanish, this gives the student an advantage over the process of learning French as opposed to learning a language from another language family such as German, Mandarin Chinese, Korean or Japanese.
French is also considered a prestigious language, with over 321 million speakers, it is the second most studied language worldwide, after English, and it is an official language in several international institutions like The United Nations and the European Union.
French is also the language of several Global companies, and while most people associate French companies with luxury (haute-couture, wine, jewelry), some of the most recognizable brands in Mexico are French, such as Bic or Danone.
What´s Your Learning Style?
Irma Jiménez Alba & Denise Danglot Silva
Students will be given a brief explanation of each one of the learning styles (visual, auditory or kinaesthetic) and do activities related to them.

From interactive platforms that enhance speaking and listening abilities to AI-powered websites that support grammar correction, vocabulary building, and reading comprehension, we will demonstrate how technology can be used as a powerful educational ally. The session aims to provide students with hands-on examples and recommendations for incorporating these tools into everyday learning. Whether you're looking to boost your fluency, refine your writing, or expand your vocabulary, this presentation will offer valuable insights and resources to make language learning more dynamic and effective
Greetings Around the World

Pronunciation makes perfect
Héctor Alfonso Fong Camacho
As non-native speakers, we are always aware and self-conscious of how we are speaking and tend to focus more on trying to make it sound perfect rather than providing an effective and clear message. But there are easy strategies that would help you to improve your pronunciation up to a point where you can communicate effectively without being overwhelmed by the idea of doing it right or wrong. In this masterclass, you will check the twelve sounds for vowels in English and build your confidence to improve your speaking skills focusing on the important differences between vowel sounds.

By the end of the session, learners will have increased confidence in using German, recognizing familiar elements from English, and applying them in real-life communication.
Crisis Mode: Creating Support Systems That Actually Work
Irma Enid Ochoa Flores
In the fast-paced and high-pressure environment of university life, crisis moments whether academic, emotional, or personal are inevitable. Yet, few students are taught how to proactively build support systems that can truly make a difference when things fall apart. This talk explores what effective support systems look like, why they matter, and how to create them before, during, and after crisis. Grounded in psychological research but delivered in an accessible, student-centered way, the session challenges common myths around asking for help and offers practical strategies for developing strong, sustainable networks of care.

GESTIÓN DEL TIEMPO EN EL APRENDIZAJE DE LENGUAS
Ariana Estefania Nolasco Carrillo
