En 2008 como director, guionista y editor gané Mejor Comedia en el 1er Festival Latinoamericano de Cine Juvenil “Lo Que Veo” y en 2014 fui co-editor del documental “El Noveno Horno”, primer lugar del Guanajuato International Film Festival en la sección “Identidad y Pertenencia”.
Actualmente me desempeño como diseñador digital freelance y creador de contenido en redes sociales, con más de un millón de seguidores a través de distintas plataformas con mi marca “Filmland” y mi canal personal “Bryan Romero”.
How English Opened Doors in My Creative Career
In this talk, I will share my personal and professional journey as a digital designer and content creator, focusing on how learning English played a crucial role in shaping my career. From accessing key books and articles to understanding global creative trends and connecting with international communities, English has not only expanded my knowledge but also opened doors to opportunities that would have otherwise remained out of reach. I’ll reflect on the specific ways language has empowered my growth, helped me stay ahead in a constantly evolving industry, and allowed me to share my work with a broader audience.

La presente reflexión explora la relación entre las estrategias basadas en neuroeducación y la metodología de microlearning en contextos educativos y formativos. La neurociencia ha demostrado que el aprendizaje efectivo se potencia cuando se consideran factores como la atención, la memoria, la emoción y la motivación y se potencian los ciclos de aprendizaje. En este sentido, el microlearning —caracterizado por contenidos en segmentos breves, enfocados y accesibles— se alinea con los principios neurocientíficos al facilitar la consolidación del conocimiento, reducir la carga cognitiva y fomentar la retención a largo plazo. A través del análisis de diversas investigaciones, se evidencia que el microlearning aprovecha procesos cerebrales como la repetición espaciada, la motivación y el uso de estímulos multisensoriales, promoviendo una experiencia de aprendizaje más eficiente y personalizada. Esta sinergia entre neuroeducación y microlearning ofrece nuevas oportunidades para diseñar entornos educativos más efectivos, especialmente en la formación continua.

Educators around the world and more recently, in Guanajuato (Mexico), face a complex social context. Therefore, the teaching-learning process is becoming a challenge every day. Both, teachers and students, have experienced one or more different kinds of trauma. This could be causing a great difficulty to get focused on the process. Developing the SEL model could, perhaps, help teachers to cope with the establishment of a safe emotional environment.

Gloria Bohorquez holds a B.A in languages from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana and a Masters degree in Didactics from Universidad del Rosario in Colombia. Her experience in education is extensive. She has been coordinator at prestigious schools as well as a professor in several universities in Bogota, Colombia.
She worked for Suffolk Public Schools in Virginia, US and was awarded Teacher of the year in 2004 . At her current job as an educational sales consultant Mrs. Bohorquez has had the opportunity to mentor teachers and coach schools into their transition to become bilingual as well as to support their teachers with best practices .

Strategies to Learn Vocabulary

Having a wide range of vocabulary improves the possibility of being able to communicate better as well as to understand readings and listening, that is why it is so important that students learn strategies to acquire new words.
Many students have completed intermediate or even advanced levels of English, but the lack of vocabulary is remarkable. In order to overcome this problem, this workshop has been designed to provide the learners some strategies to learn vocabulary.
Surviving in Germany

Germany is a hub of cultural history, urban development, and diverse landscapes, attracting millions of visitors. Each year, about 36 Million people visit Germany.
The main attractions that people find interesting in Germany are the Christmas Markets, its various Castles and the Architecture. In 2024 a record number of people turned to Germany for their vacation.
During this session, it is intended to provide the students with practical phrases and vocabulary, that can be used in daily tourist life. Additionally, to encourage them to learn German a foreign language.
Why should engineers learn French?

While English is the dominant foreign language, speaking other global languages give professionals access to a wider array of job opportunities.
Given that everyone needs to learn English, a third language is often necessary to present oneself as more prepared and competent. German is generally preferred by most engineers as their third language choice, and it is this very reason why other languages offer somewhat of an advantage.
French is a romance language descended from Latin, the same as Spanish, this gives the student an advantage over the process of learning French as opposed to learning a language from another language family such as German, Mandarin Chinese, Korean or Japanese.
French is also considered a prestigious language, with over 321 million speakers, it is the second most studied language worldwide, after English, and it is an official language in several international institutions like The United Nations and the European Union.
French is also the language of several Global companies, and while most people associate French companies with luxury (haute-couture, wine, jewelry), some of the most recognizable brands in Mexico are French, such as Bic or Danone.

During this quick mini-rally, the participants will use their knowledge of the target language (English) in its 4 skills, as they try to succeed in deciphering the clues given to obtain what will fill their “Hunting bags” in order to reach the King Capibara´s hiding place first and win the game.
The participants must communicate, and write in English to solve the puzzles, and use their skills in listening and reading to do the quizzes for each stage of the game. (Levels A2-B2)
The winners will receive a “Capibara” (toy) and sweets, and the rest small treats for their work.

Sip & Speak: A Coffee and Food Pairing Experience

This interactive tasting workshop introduces students to English through sensory-based experiences involving coffee and food pairings. Students will practice the 4 S’s of coffee tasting (Smell, Slurp, Locate, Describe) while building vocabulary to express flavors, textures, and aromas.
They will then explore food pairings such as chocolate or cheese, learn key adjectives, and share their impressions in English. A mini cultural tour introduces coffee traditions from around the world to promote global awareness.

The topic of music festivals and line ups will be introduced and the instructions to create their own festival line up of their dreams.
They will work in their teams in creating the poster of their festival.
At the end, each team will present their festival selling it the best way they can.
The team that best sells the festival will get a prize. (Probably cookies)
